Back in Taiwan!

February 19th, 2008

Yes, I am back in the island and back at training with my teammates. I was away in USA for just 10 days, but it was enough to miss the training camp. However, I didn’t stop training at all, and I did some interesting training  too!I flew to Seattle for work reasons, but riding my bike was still a significant part of my everyday, from dawn to dusk. So much, as I was commuting to work by bike, riding 25km or 50-60 minutes each way, early in the morning and late afternoon. Half the ride was very hilly, and the second half was all flat around the lake. There is no better way to start the day than riding a little bit, even if the weather was cold and rainy most days!

I try take something positive of everything I do, every mile I ride. For that reason, riding under the rain when the temperature was only around 5 degrees C can only make me stronger. And is good not to forget how to handle the bike in wet conditions. Not to mention, one morning I had to bring my bulky 17″ laptop with me on my morning commute, along with the usual backpack with dry clothes and wearing winter clothing… that really was training under load!

Then, apart from a 3 and a half hours road ride along the coast of Washington, I also had the chance to ride mountain bike. It was very intense, and I also got to test my skills as the trails were technical, rooty, slippery… so much fun. I was riding a singlespeed bike, to make things more interesting and challenging, although it was not a Fuji bike… but good power/skills training anyway.

Now, after a long flight, I am back in Taichung and following the training plan of Team Fuji Taiwan. I pulled some good training rides last week, focusing on long steady efforts,  lots of climbing. This week I will go for a more intense, more explosive training. See you on the road!
