Rick 和一家人上週六早 5am 從美國回台。9am 到台中家。11am 趕到大甲參加捷安特盃。。。
My journey began on Thursday noon in Northern California USA with a 7 hour car drive to drop off family and head to the airport for a 1:00am flight back to Taiwan. With 3 adults and 2 kids, that car was full of luggage! The flight was just over 12 hours landing in TPE 5:00 am on Saturday. A bus then taxi ride back to Taichung was next, arriving by 9:00am. Shower, food, gear and tool grab I was out the door around 10:30am in my car headed to Dajia.

這是我第二次騎武嶺 , 上一次是去年的第一屆 . 對我來說這比賽很特別 , 好像是每年必經之路一般 , 是充滿著挑戰的一條路 .
賽前一天埔里還下著大雨 , 一整晚雨聲滴滴答答地響著 . 我們都很擔心會像去年一樣在比賽前就已經全身溼了 , 一路在雨中騎上武嶺 , 然後縮著發抖的身子下山 . 結果呢 ? 隔天早上雨就停了 ! 還好 , 惡夢沒有成真 .
菁英組最早出發 , 也最備受大會的關注 . 大會有兩部維修車全程跟著我們 , 還有數不清的機車裁判沿路幫我們開路指揮 . 除此之外 , 沿路設有三處補給點 , 然後大會還幫我們載衣物到山頂 , 從這些細節來看真的會覺得大會實在很用心在辦這場比賽 !

Xmas in March? 今天第一批隊車從意大利到單模。箱子上的標簽印著 “Team, Urgent”。有三部 TCR 的 Strato 和一部 TMV 的 Best Of.
這批 Strato 是台灣的第一批。
Strato 是 Cinelli 今年最頂級的 super frame (小玉叫 Strato 超人車). 我們開箱後,實際看到她,才知道她有多美。也看到 Strato 和我們目前用的 Pro Estrada 有很大的不同。Pro Estrada 主要還是用圓型管。Strato 大部份用的是方,菱管。我們看 (流口水) 了好幾個月照片看不出來。
我們本來只提出 Best of 和 Pro Estrada 的贊助要求, maybe one Strato。但 Cinelli 的 Fabrizio 說:我們要看到全隊騎 Strato。我們說 OK, 沒問題。
我們愛騎車,也在我們的能力範圍內很認真的騎車。我們每年都能騎到很好的車。但今年,it’s something else。我每次拿到新車的時後都告訴小玉說,yeah, 它是讓我達到目的的工具。但我很難 convince 自己我的 Strato 只是 “讓我達到目的的工具”。
寒假在這週二正式結束 , 新的一個學期隨之而來 . 最近剛好收到兵役體檢的通知 , 我必須到台北的萬芳醫院檢查 , 所以週五一早就搭車回家 , 下午到醫院報到 . 我和一大堆大學生手拿通知單和證件排隊報到 , 換上相同的衣服 , 做一樣的事 .
週末的台北 , 充滿了夏天般的氣息 , 和氣象預報的多雲偶陣雨大相逕庭 .
週六我參加了新店四季車隊的團隊訓練 . 他們也正在為花東賽打基礎 , 安排了長距離的行程 . 這天騎106縣道到台北縣平溪 , 然後再到雙溪休息 , 之後折返 . 恰巧單車風雲車隊的團練也是相同內容 , 就這樣兩支車隊集結在一起 , 將近30人 , 還真是龐大 .四季的訓練模式和我們隊有些像 , 一開始會有一段熱身 , 在較長沒路障的路段會一起輪車 , 到休息點也不會停留太長 , 此外 , 我發現有許多四季的隊員都有在用Power Tap的功率計在訓練 , 這算是四季車隊一項特色吧 ! 這次除了和認識的車手有些交談之外 , 也多認識了幾個人 . 他們都相當的友善 , 這對我這個新朋友來說不會有種陌生感 .
農曆新年到 , Team Cinelli Ritchey 也在初三(2/16)晚上到埔里團圓 . 大家都不約而同地在6點左右到達埔里鎮寶 , 一起享用晚餐 . Rick的家人 , 還有Inigo的女朋友Ellen也都一起來 , 這頓晚餐顯得十分地熱鬧 . 半年不見 , Olive 和 Kai Kai也都長大了許多 , 上次看到Kai Kai還只會爬 , 現在卻是走來走去到處探索 , 他的驚叫聲讓我難忘 .
這幾天我們都伴隨著雨聲入睡 , 總是期待起床的那一刻 , 雨聲即止 . 不過第一天(2/17)的訓練卻不是那麼理想 . 出發沒多久 , 就下起雨來 , 一路上我們體會到在寒冷的大雨中騎車是多麼的艱難 : 濕滑的路面控車不易 , 身體漸漸失溫 , 視線不佳 , 甚至手凍僵沒辦法操控好變速把手 . (不禁讓我們想到以前在雨中比賽的畫面 : 去年花東的第一天 , 6月武嶺的登山賽 .) 短短3小時的訓練 , 十分的精簡 , 我們也平安的回到訓練基地 .

Beautiful Puli roads; Excellent team camaraderie; Wonderful company; Amazing meals; Unforgetable character building experiences.
The Bad
Rain, and more rain.
We had our customary Chinese New Year Training camp in Puli the last three days.
We wanted to do some quality k’s to top off the base we’ve been building this winter. The extended vacation was also pretty much the only days during the year that our families and friends can spend quality time together without the stress of racing or racing around. It was an excellent excuse to cook up some quality food. And put the espresso machine to some quality use.
We are on international stage… once again

Scott and Joe from SRAM joined our regular Sat. morning training ride this week. I hope they enjoyed the change of climate from the SRAM HQ in Chicago (snow!).
In the afternoon Paolo and Alessandra from Cinelli came by ModusVelo. Ray, Inigo and I were really happy to have an opportunity to talk to them, learn more about Cinelli (especially the new Strato and the possibility of customized 客製化 Best of ) and express our thanks for their support. They also seemed quite happy in the warm winter sun of Central Taiwan (away from the snowy Milan
.
It is time for some group riding again! This time we had another wonderful day up and down the roads around Sinshe and Dakeng, with road #21 climb (both sides) as the highlight. Or maybe the highlight was to be all together again doing what we like the most!
The points racked up for Team Cinelli Ritchey in the National Series Races last year.
E30:
Tim – 41pts. – 4th Place
Inigo – 37pts. – 7th Place
E40:
Rick – 69pts. – 2nd Place
RM20:
Ray – 32pts. – 4th Place
In Elite team standings – 128pts. – 9th Place
However this doesn’t seem to add up. We should have accumulated 147pts. in Elite which would put us in 7th place, one point ahead of Specialized. Anyone care to follow-up on this?
