台灣 Team Cinelli Ritchey 車隊

昨天環義第三站 Leopard Trek 的 Wouter Weylandt 在下坡時摔車喪生。Wouter 26 歲。我們聽到這消息都很難過。

我們沒帶什麼來，也不能帶什麼去，但願我們可留下有意義的東西。

前一陣子看到這部影片，馬上就聯想到這個周末要登場的武嶺盃。Haleakala 是夏威夷的一座火山，每年會舉辦 Cycle To The Sun 比賽，賽程長度約 57 公里，從 0 海拔爬升到 Haleakala 山頂 (標高 10,000 英呎)，總爬升約 3050 公尺，跟武嶺盃的 55 公里，總爬升約 2850 公尺，是不是非常相似呢？

最近Data Driven Athlete®放出一段相當有趣的影片，由車手的角度結合賽程中的相關數據 (包括功率) 來看比賽的歷程，非常的身歷其境，希望未來有更多這樣的影片誕生。

稍微解釋一下：左邊大圓中間為功率，外環為迴轉速，右上小圓為心跳，右下小圓為速度。在這段影片中也可以觀察到，當車手高強度單飛出去時，功率與心跳脫勾的現象，顯示在高強度下心跳已經不是強度很好的指標。

這幾天又傳出了幾個用藥禁賽消息。比較很不同的是這些被禁賽的都是業餘，所謂 Masters 的騎士 。Masters 就是台灣的 M30 以上的組別。被禁賽一位 38 歲，另一位 45 歲。

他們都是地方性，沒有什麼轟轟烈烈成績可言的‘選手’，是那種在周末的 group ride 會時常看到的傢伙。

他們不是直接驗出有陽性反應，而是被查到從網上購買 EPO 和 HGH。

EPO and HGH? 45 歲的業餘騎士？

Why?!? What the!?! 就是要站上頒獎台，任何頒獎台？這是其中一位的‘理由’。

On a related note, 我們的 Bike-Pure 手環昨天寄來了。TCR 正是成為支持 Bike-Pure 的車隊之一。我們鼓勵大家都支持他們。

我們 TCR 的照片佔了第三頁整頁！

這張照片是 TCR 隊攝影師別小玉 (看 photo credit: Bie Xiaoyu) 去年幫我們照的，去年夏的周三晚中科 SpeedWorks 訓練。用的是該退休的 Canon A610 傻瓜相機 (這個網站和單模網站的照片都是用它照的）

Nice! 他們可用全世界各地的照片，可是他們選了 TCR。

Although we are nearing the end of the year , and racing season, there was a race weekend in Puli. Saturday consisted of a circuit race and Sunday was a team time trial. The course was a pretty simple affair; it was a rectangle consisting of two 2 km stretches mixed in with two 500 meter long sides. The front side was nicely paved and super wide. The back, however, was home to a cement factory so the road was broken and filled with potholes (more on that later).  Luckily for us, the rain that had plagued us during the week let up and we were treated to two nice days of sunshine.

Since the races were both only 42 km, we knew that there would be action from the gun. Bad luck infected Rick and he suffered a puncture on the neutral lap, before the race began. Since there was no support and he was too far away from the pits, he had to withdraw from the race. We still had Ray and Jay, but they are less powerful on the flats than Rick, so he was certainly missed.

On the first lap, there was indeed some action. The first break got away and it contained two Giant Asia riders as well as Fraser.

These three riders worked well for a while but the Giant riders started to fade. At that point, Tim as well as two more Giant riders broke away and managed to bridge to the breakaway group.

For about three laps, this went well but on the seventh lap there were some attacks and the group split. It was a little difficult for the Team Cinelli Ritchey  riders because they outnumbered and had to cover all the breaks.

After an exciting business trip to Interbike show in Las Vegas I made a detour to LA visiting friends. I had the luxury of bringing a bike with me and indulged in some coastal riding. Though LA recorded it’s highest temperature while I was there, I rode along the beach, connecting me to panoramic mountain climbs, easily 20 degrees cooler than inland. I cruised the bikini clad beaches of Manhattan Beach on my way to Rancho Palos Verde; and also north through the surfing communities of Venice, Santa Monica, to the mountains of Malibu, including some steep dirt roads.  A true So Cal experience.
