This time, as part of my winter training, I am riding my mountain bike (Mtb). Not only it is a lot of fun, but you train different muscles and intensity, the upper body has to work harder and you need to practise short-violent accelerations of just a few pedal strokes to roll over steep hills. It is also good for bike-handling skills, specially when it is muddy and slippery as it is here sometimes.
I am back home in the Basque Country, north of Spain, visiting family and friends for Christmas, as usual. But the Cinelli-Ritchey machine doesn´t stop, and I am training for the new 2010 season here.
Last Sunday I rode 4 hours inland direction to Navarra, then up a small mountain to France, then westbound to the coast to return to Hondarribia.
Cinelli車架
Ritchey
and much much more… 最重要的是,妳會學到正確的騎程和訓練概念 (forget all that you’ve learned before!)
Team Cinelli Ritchey will be sponsored by Schwalbe in 2010. TCR will be using the ultra durable Durano clinchers and tubes during training and the top-end Durano tubulars during races. We are really excited that Schwalbe will be joining TCR, and can’t wait to mount the Duranos on our new Ritchey wheels! As matter of fact, the first batch of Duranos already arrived from Germany two weeks ago. That’s Teutonic efficiency!
Talk about Teutonic efficiency!
TCR stands out in Taiwan as a small but tight-nit team that reach successes through a collective spirit and cooperative efforts, and we have always counted our sponsors as part of the family. We appreciate the continuing support of current sponsors, and welcome new friends. Our sponsors’ support is vindication of TCR’s unique philosophy.
Yeah, Team Cinelli-Ritchey went off-road, but not out of control, this last weekend at Merida Cup in Baiguo Shan near Shetou. And again it was visible at the (extended) podium, with a 7th position finish, behind some top pro riders.
Xiaoyu (wrestling with a 15-year-old brakeless scooter) and Fangzi (sitting backwards pro-style on said scooter) risked their well-being for these footage. They were heroic.
80km. 13 climbs. Over 2200m of climbing. Just over 4 hours. 9 guys. Xiaoyu and Fangzi the support/photo crew. Along the Dadu plateau that sepeartes Taichung city from the sea. Who’d have thought there’d be so much climbing along that humble looking rise.
It was a perfect day for riding. Great weather. Great camaraderie.
Today we raced the 7th and last race of the Nacional Cycling Club Series to close the 2009 season, and Team Cinelli Ritchey had another success with podium placements in all categories!
Ray was 1st! in RM20, Inigo was 5th and Tim 8th in Elite30 and Rick was 4th in Elite40.
Team Cinelli Ritchey was 3rd in Team classification!
A not so ghoulish day in Dajia (hint… it’s Halloween), cool breeze, bright but not too sunny or hot. Team CR was looking sharp in top shelf kit and equipment. No matter, it was my little kids that gained most attention! We rode a warm up lap, prepared for the start. Delayed! .. and worse, only 3 laps instead of 4. Wait some more. Warm-up was long gone, time for a nap, or some lunch. Finally racing, and predictably fast.

Last two weeks instead of the usual Wed. night trainer session at ModusVelo, we have been doing some speed workouts in Central Taiwan Science Park near the shop. The environ reminds me of all the SJBC clubs crits in forlorn technology parks I did back in the day: deserted streets, big office/factory blocks, the initial shock of post-workday legs cranking up.
We are doing the training with Team MV. It helps the newer guys with their handling and the paceline work. Of course with a few races coming up next month this training helps to get our engines tuned. We had so much fun that we are talking about turning this into a weekly night crit next summer.
